Shop Association News
04-06-2010
Since the AGM on the 30th of October, we have been rather quiet, but here are a number of events connected with your community shop to interest you. In December the shop had its first monitoring visit by the South Devon Local Action Group. The result - a positive appraisal of the project and team! March then saw the colourful results of our planting efforts, thanks to Ron Skeates’ donation of so many daffodils. In April the delivery bay opposite the shop was completed. Posts and signage will be installed to keep this space as a delivery bay and not for general parking for which your co-operation is appreciated. You may have noticed that we have recently refurbished the old Tin Can notice board and fixed it to the trellis beside the delivery bay for community notices. Please feel free to use it.
There will soon be activity under way in the shop storeroom. We were informed by Environmental Health that we are legally required to have a separate hand wash basin, so have taken action to address this. The old sink had to be removed to make room and will be donated to the Preschool Centre meeting the philosophy of giving back to the community. Finally, apologies for the continuing delay in the opening of the entrance on to Fore Street. We are investigating other avenues to circumvent the delay which is currently outside our control.
The shop will enhance its eco philosophy when we install a digital display to show the amount of power being generated at the Preschool by their Photo Voltaic tiles. Corporate membership with the Devon Environmental Business Initiative has also been obtained.
