Aveton Gifford is a small rural village located in the South Hams and in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the south of Devon. The village gets its name from the river Avon and from the Gifford family who were Lords of the Manor in Norman times. The village lies at the top of the Avon estuary that makes it way down to Bantham beach.
The village supports a lively community and as well as a shop is served by the popular Fisherman's Rest pub. The village also has a well-respected pre-school and primary school and St Andrews Church.
